As a buyer, it’s important to get a home inspection so you are aware of everything you’re purchasing. A good home inspector will take you around the home and show you the good and the bad. They’ll teach you things like how to turn the furnace/boiler on and off in cases of emergency, where the main switch to the water is, and how to take care of the well if you have one.
The point of a home inspection isn’t to just pick the property apart to find all of its flaws, but rather to teach you about the home and to provide you with a laundry list of items that need repairs. You might not have the funds to take care of everything on the list at once, but once you have it, you can take care of the items little by little over time.
